Gov. Malloy: Access to Capital Allows Small Businesses to Think Big
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that four additional small businesses have qualified for grants through the state’s Small Business Express Program (EXP) to expand their businesses and create jobs. EXP was created as a part of the bi-partisan jobs bill that was passed during the October Special Session.

Gov. Malloy: Investing in Innovation Will Grow Our Economy
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced a $500,000 state loan to Lumachip Inc., a Waterford company that is a leader in the solid-state lighting industry. Lumachip Inc. will purchase and install state-of-the-art Light Emitting Diode (LED) semi-conductor equipment that will allow the company to expand manufacturing capacity and hire 20 new employees.

Gov. Malloy: Tronox Establishing Global Headquarters in Stamford
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced the state will provide a $3 million loan to assist Tronox Inc. to establish its global corporate headquarters in Stamford. The global mineral company will create up to 100 jobs within three years as part of its $10 million capital investment in Connecticut.

Gov. Malloy: Small Business Express Program Funds New Beginning for Bevin Bell Factory Companies Destroyed by Fire
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the state's Small Business Express (EXP) program will support Bevin Brothers Manufacturing Company and P.S.I. Plus Inc. - two businesses devastated by a fire that ravaged the Bevin Bros. Manufacturing Co. factory on May 26.

Gov. Malloy: Cable Manufacturer Expanding in Plainfield
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced the state will provide a $1.5 million loan to support C&M Technologies’ plan to acquire more manufacturing equipment. The project will help retain the company’s current 178 employees and will allow the company to add 21 full-time positions in the next two years.

Gov Malloy Advance Auto Parts Building Distribution Center in Enfield
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the state will provide a $5 million loan to support Advance Auto Parts and its plan to establish a distribution facility in Enfield at the former Lego building, a project that will create between 100 and 200 jobs. The State Bond Commission is expected to approve the funding at its next meeting.

Gov. Malloy: NewOak Capital Establishes New Operations in Danbury
Governor Dannel P. Malloy, joined by Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) Commissioner Catherine Smith, and state and local officials, today announced that NewOak Capital, a financial services firm based in New York City, will establish NewOak Credit Services, LLC in Danbury. The expansion is expected to create up to 100 new jobs within three years.

Gov. Malloy Announces Emergency Assistance for State's Weather-Damaged Farms
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced emergency assistance is available to the Connecticut farms that have suffered unrecoverable losses in production and property damage in 2013 due to severe weather events, including excessive precipitation this past month. A total of $5 million has been designated for these grants, with individual awards based on the number of qualifying applications received by the July 15, 2013, deadline.

Malloy and Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) Commissioner Catherine Smith today visited four small businesses in Manchester, Meriden, New Haven, and Stamford that are participating in the state's Small Business Express Program (EXP). The program, administered by DECD, offers grants and matching loans to Connecticut companies with 100 or fewer employees.

Gov. Malloy: State To Support Cutting-Edge Biotech Startup
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced $4.25 million in state support for Arvinas Inc., a New Haven-based biotechnology startup that is developing a new class of drugs to combat cancer and other diseases. Located in the city’s Science Park, Arvinas is founded on research licensed from Yale University and is in the process of hiring its first 25 employees.
