• 5/24/2016 State Enters Joint Federal-State Settlement with Newtown Psychiatrist Resolving False Claims Allegations

  A Newtown psychiatrist has agreed to a $422,641.70 joint federal-state settlement and will enter into a compliance program to resolve allegations that he submitted false claims for payments to Connecticut's Medicaid program and to Medicare, Attorney General George Jepsen said today.

• 12/7/2016 Connecticut Joins Multistate Settlement with Bristol-Myers Squibb over Abilify Marketing Allegations

  Connecticut has joined a $19.5 million multistate settlement with drug-maker Bristol-Myers Squibb to resolve allegations that the company improperly marketed the atypical antipsychotic drug, Abilify, Attorney General George Jepsen and state Department of Consumer Protection Commissioner Jonathan A. Harris announced today.

• 7/11/2016 State Settles with Psychiatrist who Allegedly Submitted False Claims to the Connecticut Medicaid Program

  A New Haven and Fairfield-based psychiatrist and her husband will pay $400,000 to settle a civil False Claims Act lawsuit originally filed by the Attorney General in June 2015 alleging that the couple engaged in a long term scheme to submit false claims for services provided to Medicaid patients in Connecticut. The settlement agreement was approved last week by a Hartford Superior Court judge, Attorney General George Jepsen said.

  The Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection (DCP) and the Office of the Attorney General are issuing a warning to Connecticut consumers about crowdsourcing scams. Crowdsourcing is a strategy that some people or organizations use to raise or solicit money for a charitable cause.

• 4/4/2016 State Reaches Agreement with Amphastar Providing Rebates for State and Municipal Naloxone Purchases, Will Receive Donation of 500 Doses of Life-saving Drug from Kaléo

  The state has reached an agreement with California drug-manufacturer Amphastar Pharmaceuticals, Inc. that will provide a $6 rebate for every dose of naloxone – also known by the brand name Narcan – that is purchased by a state, municipal or local town agency in Connecticut, Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Attorney General George Jepsen announced today.

• 8/29/2016 State Settles Joint State-Federal False Claims Act Investigation with Pediatric Dental Provider

  A pediatric dental provider with practices in Milford and West Haven will pay more than $1.3 million to the state and federal government to resolve allegations that he submitted false claims to Connecticut's Medicaid program for x-ray services that did not comply with state law, Attorney General George Jepsen said today.

  – RBS Securities, Inc. will pay $120 million to the state of Connecticut to resolve an investigation into its underwriting of residential mortgage-back securities (RMBS) in the lead-up to the 2008 financial crisis, Attorney General George Jepsen and state Department of Banking Commissioner Jorge Perez announced today.

• 12/14/2016 Connecticut Leads 20 State Coalition Filing Federal Antitrust Lawsuit against Heritage Pharmaceuticals, other Generic Drug Companies

  Attorney General George Jepsen today joined with 19 other state attorneys general in filing a federal lawsuit against generic drug-makers Heritage Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Aurobindo Pharma USA, Inc., Citron Pharma, LLC, Mayne Pharma (USA), Inc., Mylan Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and Teva Pharmaceuticals USA, Inc. alleging that they entered into illegal conspiracies in order to unreasonably restrain trade, artificially inflate and manipulate prices and reduce competition in the United States for two drugs: doxycycline hyclate delayed release, an antibiotic, and glyburide, an oral diabetes medication.

• 11/9/2016 AG Jepsen, Adobe Reach Agreement Resolving Connecticut-Led Multistate Investigation into Unauthorized Access to Servers

  Attorney General George Jepsen joined 14 other state attorneys general today in announcing a $1 million data breach settlement with the software and technology company Adobe Systems, Inc. The settlement resolves an investigation into the 2013 breach of certain Adobe servers, including servers containing the personal information of approximately 552,000 residents of the participating states.

• 3/21/2016 AG Jepsen, Commissioner Harris: State Reaches Settlement Providing Restitution to Conn. Snow Removal Subcontractors

  A New York-based property management company will provide $187,095 restitution to its Connecticut subcontractors and will pay a $50,000 civil penalty to the state of Connecticut under a settlement agreement resolving an investigation into the manner in which it calculated bonuses owed to its subcontractors, Attorney General George Jepsen and state Department of Consumer Protection Commissioner Jonathan A. Harris said today.

• 9/22/2016 AG Jepsen: Conn. Joins Antitrust Lawsuit over Allegations that Drug Company Illegally Blocked Generic Opioid Treatment from Market

  Connecticut, 34 other states and the District of Columbia filed a federal lawsuit yesterday afternoon against the makers of Suboxone, a prescription drug used to treat opioid addiction, alleging that the companies engaged in an illegal scheme to block generic competitors from entering the market and cause purchasers to pay artificially high prices, Attorney General George Jepsen said.

• 10/26/2016 AG Jepsen: Connecticut Joins $41.2M Multistate Settlement with Hyundai, Kia over Fuel Economy Claims

  The state of Connecticut will receive $1,490,190 as part of a multistate settlement with automakers Hyundai and Kia to resolve claims that the companies misrepresented the mileage and fuel economy ratings for some of their model year 2011, 2012 and 2013 vehicles, Attorney General George Jepsen announced today.

  Attorney General George Jepsen has joined with 13 other attorneys general in asking Congressional leadership to immediately direct funding to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for research into the causes and prevention of gun-related injuries and death.
