Gov. Malloy Announces Creation of Hydroponic Farm in Suffield
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that Four Season Farm LLC, a newly formed venture created by a long-time Connecticut farmer, international greenhouse developer, and former Wall Street executive, will develop ten acres of land in Suffield as a hydroponic farm, where the company plans to create 40 new jobs over the next two years.

Malloy Administration Issues Guidance to Law Enforcement and School Districts Regarding Immigration Matters
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and the commissioners of the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection, the Department of Correction, and the State Department of Education today announced that – in response to increasing concerns regarding the impact that a recent presidential executive order on immigration matters and corresponding implementation memos from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security will have on the operations of local law enforcement and school districts – they are sending recommendations to every school superintendent and police chief in the state outlining suggested protocols to help these jurisdictions inform local decision making and communication efforts with families in their respective communities.

Gov. Malloy Issues New Warnings on Status of State’s Transportation Fund
Governor Dannel P. Malloy is reiterating and increasing his warnings on the status of the state’s Special Transportation Fund (STF) following the release of a new report showing that the solvency of the fund is in growing jeopardy. The report lays out numerous state transportation projects in towns and cities across Connecticut that would be at risk of cancellation or deferral if the state does not take corrective action to support the STF.

Gov. Malloy Says it’s Time to Stop Forcing Certain Small Business Owners to Sell their Products at Artificially High Prices Required by the Government

Malloy today announced that he has submitted a legislative proposal to the Connecticut General Assembly that will update an antiquated state law that currently forces the owners of certain retail stores to sell their products at artificial prices set by liquor wholesalers, resulting in unnecessarily high prices for consumers.

Gov. Malloy Announces Bridgeport Train Station Renovations and Upgrades Complete
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) Commissioner James P. Redeker today announced that a $10 million renovation and upgrade project at the Bridgeport railroad station has been completed and the new amenities, which were designed to provide commuters with enhanced services, are now in use, including real-time electronic signage of arrivals and departures, extended canopies, better lighting, and a resurfaced platform.

Gov. Malloy Announces TransitAmerica Services and Alternate Concepts Selected as Service Provider for the Hartford Line
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that a joint venture of TransitAmerica Services and Alternate Concepts has been selected as the service provider that will operate and manage service on the CTrail Hartford Line – the passenger rail service currently under construction that will provide more frequent train service between New Haven, Hartford, and Springfield. The rail line is anticipated to launch in May 2018.

Gov. Malloy Announces $11.5 Million in Small Cities Grants Awarded to 20 Municipalities to Enhance Housing Availability, Increase Economic Development
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Connecticut Department of Housing (DOH) Commissioner Evonne M. Klein today announced that $11.5 million is being awarded to 20 municipalities in Connecticut to provide upgrades and improvements to the state’s small town infrastructure. Awarded under the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Small Cities program, which is administered by DOH with funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the grants are awarded to small towns that have a population below 50,000 residents and will advance projects that develop and preserve affordable housing, provide services to the most vulnerable residents in their communities, and also create and retain jobs.
